Places and Other Things
This is my catchall gallery. Maybe for now it's my COVID life gallery. I challenged myself in the fall of 2020 by entering a Plein Air festival. I had no idea what I had gotten myself into. I had never done it before. But it was so much fun in the time of COVID to be near but not in the thick of things and to capture things as I encountered them. The scenes I painted were peculiarly influenced by the pandemic. The already quirky restaurant had expanded into the parking lot in true COVID fashion, for example. Then there is the painting of my neighbor. He could be seen keeping the wheels of the Biden campaign going in his front room by my parking spot in jeans and a tee at all hours of day and night; the campaign was run from homes across the nation just like many businesses.
I then got through the pandemic by taking several landscape and plein air painting classes, and in June 2021, participated in Paint Annapolis. I was a bit more sure of myself. What a blast it was.
